Just Like Christmas by Low
I love this song. Rick really knows how to pick them. I am sharing another family photo or actually, series of photos with you. They might need some explaining so here goes. We grew up in the panhandle of Florida. We never got snow. So one year we heard they had gotten snow a little north of us in Alabama. We packed the minivan and had a snow trip. It took us a little over an hour to get to snow and this was the first time I really saw snow. We ended up having a blast which included sledding down interstate embankments on cardboard boxes. Wish we’d found the photos of that. I hope you enjoy the hilarity.

And yes that is me in purple, my dad in plaid, my brother Lex in the A’s hat and my mom in red.

Day 12: December 12, 2011
Arbolito by Tish Hinojosa
Wow this song just warms my soul. Rick called it a love song to growing up in San Antonio. Tish is from San Antonio and it really does remind me of there. Our friend Maria’s mom used to make the best tamales during the holidays and when I listen to this song I can almost taste them. San Antonio will always have a special place in my heart even though I didn’t grow up there. So for all my friends there, eat some of Ruben’s Tamales and walk the riverwalk this Christmas.
And in honor of Arbolito here is a photo of two of the cutest kids ever, me and my brother, in front of a Christmas tree.
