Merry Christmas From The Pooles!

December 23rd, 2010  |  Posted in personal, uncategorized

I grew in the south and always dreamed of a white Christmas and sadly that never happened. But this year Rick and I had fun in Seattle right before Thanksgiving and were surprised by a freak snow storm. I thought I’d share some of those photos.

I love the sneaky Wendi in the corner out of focus! oh yeah the pink hat was a impulse buy on the way to the market. I didn’t pack a hat and my ears were cold!

Before I go I wanted to share a Christmas story that always makes me smile. A few years ago I went to a midnight candlelight Christmas Eve service. I go to a candlelight service ever year but never at midnight. It was really cool but what struck me came from a 2 year old sitting behind me. During the lighting of the candles at the end of the service as everyone started singing Silent Night I heard a little voice singing Happy Birthday. Turning around with a chuckle I saw her with her parents singing her own song. Her parents, who seemed slightly embarrassed and humored at the same time, made it a point to say that she sings Happy Birthday whenever someone lights candles. To me it was beautiful and prefect.

I hope your Christmas is full of love, joy and maybe some snow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am truly thankful for so many things in my life. I thought I’d just show you a quick fun thing. It’s the little stuff that always makes me smile and I like to smile. I hope this will do the same for you and have a great Thanksgiving.

NACE Opening Reception :: Driskill Hotel, Austin TX

September 23rd, 2010  |  Posted in uncategorized

The NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) annual conference was held in Austin, TX this summer and the Austin ISES chapter (International Special Events Society) hosted the opening reception at the Driskill Hotel.  Whew!  That’s an alphabet soup of acronyms.  The reception was a collaborative effort by a Who’s Who list of Austin event professionals all beautifully orchestrated by Cindy Lo of Red Velvet Events and Tacy Infante of Meritage Events.  I had the pleasure of hanging out with these talented ladies during the event set-up.  Below is a mere glimpse of the all-day on-site effort to transform the Driskill into a kickin’ Rhinestone Cowboy hangout (not to mention the months of planning leading up to the event).

I just have one thing to say…lighting, lighting, lighting…ok, that was three.

Houston Wedding Photography :: Ashleigh & Michael

As I mentioned last time, second shooting is a great re-charge for me –  like a rare cool breeze on a very hot Texas day.  So, when schedules align I jump at the opportunity to tag-along, especially with an awesome photographer like  Nathan Lindstrom.  Ashleigh & Michael’s wedding was at The Tuscany Villa in Katy, Texas just outside of Houston. It was a wonderful venue and a crazy cool couple.

Dearly love this shot. They had just found out that they were the longest married couple during the couples dance.
