A cute Hill County town + great light + fun couple + two dogs.  Can you guess who was totally loving this engagement session?  Me!!  I recently had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Amanda and Zan and their dogs, Brighton and Baxter, at the Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne, TX.

Amanda and Zan are getting married this weekend at Riven Rock Ranch in Comfort, Texas and I  can’t wait!

Houston Wedding :: Jessica and Chad

March 21st, 2011  |  Posted in weddings

It may sound like a cliche but getting to know a couple and being a witness to the first chapter of their new life together is such a privilege and when I cross paths with a couple like Jessica and Chad I’m reminded how fortunate I am to call wedding photography my “job.”  I’m thrilled to call them friends and look forward to our next movie night.

Soon after Jessica and Chad started dating, he accepted an exciting overseas work assignment. Consequently, much of their dating consisted of meeting in foreign cities. Keeping with their travel theme, Chad proposed marriage to Jessica during a romantic trip to Paris.

They were married at the Second Baptist Church in Houston followed by a reception at The Junior League of Houston.  With travel being a central theme in their relationship, it was only fitting that family and friends from around the country and as far away as Poland ventured to Houston for their wedding.

Looking back on their many travel photographs the couple noticed Jessica to always be holding a hot beverage. To complete their “hot-beverage-in-hand” photo collection, Chad planned a surprise stop at McDonald’s after their wedding for coffee!

Take a look!

My husband Rick is quite a bit taller than I am, but these two take the prize!  How could I not photograph this?Houston wedding photojournalist

This was taken at the moment Chad surprised Jessica by jumping on stage with the band to sing Neil Diamond’s “I’m a Believer.”  Wouldn’t you love to know what those girls are whispering?

Austin Bridal Portraits :: Heather

Heather is the epitome of a classic beauty and she has this big warm smile that immediately draws you in.  It has been such a pleasure getting to know Heather, Rob and their families and I can’t wait to show you their rehearsal dinner and wedding.  Before we dive into her bridal portraits you might want to take a peek back at Heather and her sweetie Rob at their  engagement session.

I’d like to give a special thank you to Leslie Gandy at Dress Shop and Kenny Hilbig for the awesome locations for our photo session.

Fun Food Friday :: Houston Hamburger

March 3rd, 2011  |  Posted in fun food friday, uncategorized

A few weeks ago I decided to finally make a trip to Lankford’s Grocery. I had heard about this dive from many people. It is a Houston burger institution. So when I finally craved a hamburger it was my first choice.

First you have to be hungry to eat a burger here and second, you better like mustard. It was a great burger, it tasted homemade. Not the best burger I have had but still very tasty. One draw back was that it was a little dry. The mustard helped but it was a bit more mustard they I usually like.

Rick was with me and our friend Nathan. Nathan and I got burgers and Rick went rogue and got chicken sliders, on the left. Next time I come I am getting them. They looked amazing. On the right is the the aftermath of my first attack on the burger. I think by this time I had eaten about a normal sized burger. I didn’t finish but ended up eating a bit more.

The inside of the store is dark but has a lot of character. I really loved the salt and pepper collection on the wall. If you are in Houston and are craving an old school burger joint Lankford’s is right up your alley. Just remember to bring cash.

Houston Bridal Portraits :: The 1940 Air Terminal Museum

Jessica:  A petite bundle of efficiency.  Overflowing with sweetness and joy.  Stunningly beautiful.   For her bridal shoot I wanted something uncluttered and simple, yet elegant.  The 1940 Air Terminal Museum in Houston was the perfect complement to Jessica’s dress and her personality.

Can we all agree that Jessica is a natural in front of the camera?  Oh my!  And last, but surely not least, we are jump-up-and-down honored that Janie at The Bride’s Cafe featured the lovely Jessica.

The photo on the right is my favorite.   There’s something about the white space and Jessica’s laugh. Love it!

And a final take in the the Houston Museum district for a bit of outdoors.

Jessica,  It was a pleasure!
