The NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) annual conference was held in Austin, TX this summer and the Austin ISES chapter (International Special Events Society) hosted the opening reception at the Driskill Hotel. Whew! That’s an alphabet soup of acronyms. The reception was a collaborative effort by a Who’s Who list of Austin event professionals all beautifully orchestrated by Cindy Lo of Red Velvet Events and Tacy Infante of Meritage Events. I had the pleasure of hanging out with these talented ladies during the event set-up. Below is a mere glimpse of the all-day on-site effort to transform the Driskill into a kickin’ Rhinestone Cowboy hangout (not to mention the months of planning leading up to the event).
I just have one thing to say…lighting, lighting, lighting…ok, that was three.

As I mentioned last time, second shooting is a great re-charge for me – like a rare cool breeze on a very hot Texas day. So, when schedules align I jump at the opportunity to tag-along, especially with an awesome photographer like Nathan Lindstrom. Ashleigh & Michael’s wedding was at The Tuscany Villa in Katy, Texas just outside of Houston. It was a wonderful venue and a crazy cool couple.
And, yes, that is really her eye color. Gorgeous!!!
Dearly love this shot. They had just found out that they were the longest married couple during the couples dance.
Congratulations Ashleigh & Michael!

I had the pleasure of photographing one of the coolest new places in San Antonio a few months ago for San Antonio Magazine. La Gloria is amazing. I don’t think I’ve had anything here I didn’t love and the place has a fun atmosphere that reminds me of an upscale taco dive. It’s located at the end of the new riverwalk extension and is part of the very trendy new Pearl Brewery Complex. I love a lot of places here and it reminds me a bit of Austin but with a San Antonio flair. I’ll share a couple photos and say it is a must stop if you’re in San Antonio. Hey if you’re going to Imaging USA 2011 we should all plan a trip to La Gloria! Add a comment and I’ll start the planning.
Yes those are Pork Rinds on top of that Sope.
A view of two of the Sope choices Deshebrada, shredded beef, on the left and Chicharron, cheese and pork rinds on the right.
I want some Mexican food now. mmmmm.
