Today is Pie Day. . . at least in my world it is. As you probably already know I love baking, but I’ve had less than stellar results with my pie making efforts. This Thanksgiving I finally turned the corner on pie baking and in celebration I am dedicating this month’s Fun Food Friday to the glorious pie. If this post makes you hungry, keep reading for a chance to win a pie!
“When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it’s not, mmmmmmmm, boy.” Jack Handy.
Thanks to Kyle Isenhower for introducing me to this wonderful quote.

My Pecan Pie. It was very yummy.
A crazy good fried pie from Froberg’s Farm south of Houston.

If your pie is anything like your cookies, please count me in!
My freshman year of college was spent with a group of pie-obsessed friends. We were constantly having pie nights where we would bake pies (both sweet and savory.) My friend Alyssa would dance around the kitchen singing "My my me oh my, I love pie" over and over and now anytime I see or think about pie that is what pops into my head. I will probably be singing it for the rest of the day thanks to your post.
Having grown up as the son of an excellent cook and baker, I grew up with some great pies. We had a pie cherry tree in the yard of the house I grew up in, and we had rhubarb, both of which ended up in spectacular pies. But there is one pie that tops all, my mother's Huckleberry pie, made from the huckleberries we still pick each summer in Northern Idaho. True huckleberries are such a strong flavor that they do very well mixed with an equal part of either peach or nectarine, that way you can stretch that precious supply of huckleberries!!
I loves me some pie!!
